How I Plan To Do My Audio
Basically everything will be done in post except for the dialogue. The aim with this approach is to get the cleanest, crispest audio. Often the sound side of a student film is what lets it down, so with this approach all the sound will be much cleaner and sound more professional. Another reason for this is that I will simply be adding loads of original sound anyway, due to the film's sci fi theme. A lot of the ambience and soundscapes - along with some individual sound effects - will be sounds that don't exist reality, at least not yet.
I am also exploring the idea of putting heavy reverb on almost all the dialogue. This will give a strange, almost trance-like impression, which I think will match what may be quite unreal settings and characters. The inspiration for this comes mainly from Blade Runner, which has scenes that utilise reverb, or something of that nature.
Music, You Ask?
Due to My competition's guidelines, I cannot use copyrighted music. Thus I am restricted to either making my own, or surfing the web, sifting through god awful royalty free pieces. Unfortunately I have little experience with the former method, and more than I'm proud of in the latter.
In my film analysis I briefly covered Vangelis's score for blade runner. The style and feel of that soundtrack is something I want in part, but as my film needs to grab the attention of the viewer I think it makes sense to include some more fast paced and commonplace music to balance out any more cerebral sounding music.
To fit the (near) futuristic setting of the film, the music should be entirely electronic in nature, unless I decide to use some more acoustic sounding material to create some effect that is.
I'm confident that with enough rooting around I can find some really good pieces for my film. Often I will in fact listen for potential music whilst writing my scrips, as it better informs me on both.

Bad Stream Prospective
Having recently got into the music of Martin Steer (AKA, "Bad Stream) I reached out to him on Social Media, in the hope of gaining permission to use his music in my production.
I have since received an affirmative reply, as is shown here on the below image, and upon further correspondence I determined to use his song "life" as the soundtrack to my planned dream sequence.
