Who Am I Making It For?
Why Aesthetica?
It's a very prestigious festival, and although I'm not expecting to win, it feels good to have a high bar set for oneself...and who knows, maybe I will win after all. I will be submitting my film to either the "drama" or "Thriller" categories, most likely the latter.

How I Arrived At My Idea
First and foremost, my greatest film inspiration is Blade Runner, and I really wanted to make something that reflects that film's style at least somewhat, and perhaps pays homage to it. I Also like to think that I know a few good locations to help bring a world like that to life. After my focus group it was clear that out of my three proposed Ideas, this was by far the favourite. I take it from that that it will suit my target audience of people my own age quite well.

My Film's Basic Premise
A More In Depth Look At My Concept
So the story Will be set around a young an impressionable guy, who is struggling to find work to pay for something he badly needs. He resorts to agreeing to do some work for a very shady character, against the advice of his close friends. The film would centre around this job, and be interspersed with flashbacks to how he got to where he is, and then it would all culminate in an exciting denouement.
Why I Should Make It
Well, primarily because I want to, and that isn't simply me stating the obvious. In the past my productions have seriously suffered through my lack of motivation or enthusiasm. Making a film in my favourite genre should help keep me motivated and passionate about my production. It is also going to be truly challenging or me. Simply utilising the skills I have at the moment shall not be enough; making it will push me to improve and learn new skills in order to gain the results required. The bar is set very high. I hope that it is something that people are keen to see, and so far all indications are that that is the case.
I'm usually of the opinion that a good or beautifully told story should be by far the primary concern of a film, but in this case I think a production of this nature may have a lot to say about society and where it can lead if we continue in our current ways. Film noir and sci fi set in dystopian worlds are always rife with moral ambiguity and class struggles, not to mention poverty and misuse of power. Hopefully there will be some food for though contained within my story's shell, and people can go away with a slight sense of reflection. I think that the most controversial theme may be that of the ill effects of technological advancements. I feel it's a very important subject, and topic that should be talked about more even now, let alone at such a time as my film would be set. The ill effects of tech on peoples mental and even physical health will have been a major cause for the degradation of the world of my film.
